Providenciales, TCI — Police have launched an investigation after a woman was shot in the Long Bay area of Providenciales on Wednesday morning, raising new concerns about violent crime in the Turks and Caicos Islands.

What Happened

At around 7:30 a.m., officers responded to reports of gunfire on Tower Drive in Long Bay. When they arrived, they found a woman suffering from gunshot wounds. She was immediately taken to hospital, where doctors are monitoring her condition.

Authorities have not yet released the woman’s identity or confirmed the extent of her injuries.

Community Reaction

Residents of Long Bay say they were startled by the sound of multiple shots early in the morning. Many expressed fear about the growing number of violent incidents across Providenciales.
